The more you understand your existing customer base, the easier it will be to identify new prospects.  Whilst you will no doubt have a good idea about where your customers are located, which industries they are in, and the size of their business, an annual review can provide clarification on exactly what the main characteristics of your customers are, thereby helping you to identify other companies with similar profiles for future targeted sales and marketing campaigns – far better than the alternative (and costly) scattergun approach.  Profiling helps you get the best value from your marketing spend.
