Corporate Social Responsibility

Successful businesses aren’t all about the bottom line.  One of the things they all have in common is that they give something back – be it in charitable donations, sponsorship, community support etc.  Needless to say, you need to make some form of profit first – there is no point in jeopardising jobs just to put shirts on the backs of the local football team – but once you’re at the point of ‘comfortable’, have a think about what more you can do, then establish it as part of your culture, your company’s DNA.  As a successful entrepreneur, perhaps you could act as a mentor at your local school or college, or facilitate work experience for nearby kids.  What better way is there to counter negativity from local residents, or to foster a positive brand identity than to give something back?
