Business Networking

A great way to attract new business is to network with representatives of other companies, particularly if your target market is the local area.  Networking is about making connections and building enduring, mutually beneficial relationships, which ultimately serve to get your name ‘out there’ and facilitate referrals.  It’s not something that everyone enjoys, but it is worth a go – check out your local and industry groups and attend a session or two (most networking groups allow you to attend at least one event for free).  Invest an hour of your time seeing who’s there, starting some conversations, and handing out business cards.  You never know – that hour might bring you more referrals and valuable connections than a week of sales calls.
